Giving horses a second chance at life.
Second Stable is a registered charity that provides a second chance for horses.
By supporting Second Stable, you will be providing hope for retired or injured horses through our recuperation, rehabilitation, retraining and rehoming programmes.
Horses are majestic and highly intelligent animals. Often horses are exited from the racing industry at a young age either through injury or not having the physical speed or emotional temperament for racing.
Thousands of horses are bred each year in Australia for use in the racing industry. Only a few will ever make it to the racing events.
Rather than see these horses neglected or killed, Second Stable provides an opportunity for these horses to be rescued and given a second chance.

100 acres of freedom in the Kanimbla Valley.
Second Stable operates an Equestrian Facility in the stunning Kanimbla Valley, west of the Blue Mountains in New South Wales.
It includes 100 acres of pasture, natural creeks and woodland for the horses to rest and recuperate before being retrained and rehomed.
Preparation for a second chance.
Racehorses make wonderful riding horses, lesson horses, equine therapy horses, pony club horses, riding for the disabled horses and even police horses.
They excel at many riding disciplines including dressage, eventing, jumping, equitation and pleasure.
Horses that come to Second Stable are without owners or homes. Second Stable provides medical care, rehabilitation and recuperation.
During this process, Second Stable will determine what ‘second life’ will be best for each individual horse and our horse trainers will prepare them for their new home.
“I am still under the impression that there is nothing alive quite so beautiful as a horse.”
— John Galsworthy, Nobel Prize Laureate
